Thanking You, the Vocal Voices!

Without my readers this blog would work well in an Old Western movie, with tumbleweed for added effect. You, my readers, are the people who breathe life in to the blog. You’re the people that keep me motivated to write each day. I like to know my readers are enjoying what I’m writing, so I want to thank my top commentators for this month.

I’d like to propose a toast to many more comments over the next month. Who’s with me?

No problem, Nick.

When are you coming to the UK? And do you intend to visit anywhere besides London? I would love to see you come up north to York (the London of the North). If not, I *may* be able to get to London. It will be fantastic to see you and Denise again.

We are shooting for the end of February, Denise keeps changing her mind on when we can go. As of right now, the plan is to visit London and Paris. We will be in each city for a week so depending on how far York is it might be possible to swing down there for a day.

Any suggestions on thing to see or do there would be great, maybe just point me to a website about the area.

Awesome.

York is a 90 minute drive from me, and probably five hour drive from London (or two hours by train). It’s the capital city of Yorkshire, and probably has just as much, if not more, history than London.

I wrote a report of my day in York at IWDN: http://www.iwdn.net/showthread.php?p=57846#post57846

The York Castle Museum is a must see, for it’s replica of a Victorian street. The realistic sounds, smells and shops are amazing. Here is a good photo of it.

There is also Jorvik, which includes a ride that takes you through a real life Viking village that was found by archeologists. Travelling through the smelly outdoor Viking bathroom is a must! :D

And if that wasn’t good enough, it is still legal (thanks to an ancient law) to kill a Scottish man within the York city walls, as long as it is done by bow and arrow. Seriously! :D

As for things to see and do in London, I’ll name the obvious ones. Buckingham Palace (try to find the times when the changing of the guard is done. This will be the best time). Tower of London. London Eye. Westminster Abbey. Big Ben. Shopping on Oxford St. Let Denise bankrupt you with some shopping at Harrod’s. :)

Hope that helps! Let me know what you plan on doing closer to the time.
