Saturday Tidbits & Guest Post at JohnChow.com

Morning friends! It’s Saturday, and that means it’s time for something a little random. Here are the links and events that have caught my attention over the past week. Enjoy! :)

Guest Post On John Chow Dot Com

Yesterday, John Chow published a guest post from me. How to Bring Interactivity to Your Blog discusses taking blogs beyond video and audio and truly engaging your readers in the community you build. It seems to have got a very positive response amongst those readers have who published a comment. I hope you enjoy the post.

Getting Away from the Computer

I’ve always been a big advocate of stepping away from the computer. Most weekends in the summer you’ll find me camping, hiking, kayaking or playing sports.

This time of year is actually my favourite time. At least that’s so when the weather is cold, crisp and bright. It was a lovely day yesterday so I decided to take a day away from the computer and Blackberry and head out on a hike.

I walked about eleven miles (17km). I took plenty of photos during the hike. Here is my photo of the day, followed by the rest of the photos.

Very nice pics, Jamie. Sadly, I there is nothing that nice within walking distance of my house. We have fields but it’s all boring and flat with corn growing in the summer. Although this http://www.visit1000islands.com is about an hour away.

Jaimie - Great photos… it is easy to see that you had a great hike… the sun is shining here, so I think I’m going to follow your lead and go for a long walk with a camera.

And a big thank you for the link :-)

Jamie,

Thank you for highlighting my post. That was very nice of you.
I love your pictures. I especially love the fence post one because there was something that others might have looked at as just a broken old fence needing repair and you turned it into beautiful art!

I read your post on John Chow dot com and really enjoyed it. I think another way to bring interactivity to your blog is to talk to people in your niche during lunch or dinner. It’s a great way to get away from the computer as well.

You’ll network with other professionals and like-minded people and also engage in interesting conversations.

Nice pictures from the hike. Really beautiful scenery. Thank you for highlighting my post too!

Great pics Jamie. You made me remind myself that I too need to get away from the computer and go enjoy nature like I enjoy doing so much. It’s easy to get caught up on the internet and letting time slip by.
