At this time on Monday, 6:30pm, I’ll be arriving at Heathrow airport, London. I’ll be soaking up my last few hours in England before I jump on a plane bound for Hong Kong, and then forward on to Sydney, Australia, to start my 12 month backpacking adventure.
The next 12 months have plenty of promise for me. Sky diving. Bungee jumping. Kayaking. White water rafting. New friends. Bar crawls. And lots of relaxation and learning.
The year will start on Wednesday when I land in Sydney. My first time living away from home and many thousands of miles from home at that! Also my 21st birthday. A good way to start, I’m sure.
So as I fill in tax returns, cease my self employment, finish work, pack bags, convert money, and prepare a leaving party, I just wanted to write a quick note here.
I’m going to be blogging about my travels over at Backpacking Jamie. I’d love to see lots of you head over there and subscribe. That’s the only way you’ll get to see me in full kangaroo fancy dress. Or not. It depends how much I drink.
So head over to my backpacking blog and subscribe. I’ll be writing every few days about my adventure with photos and video for good measure. I’m nervous. I’m excited. But I can’t wait to see what happens when I finally leave Leeds train station on my way to London.
I’ll still be writing on this blog throughout the year, and then when I arrive back I have every intention to continue writing. But for the next 12 months, my main focus is going to be on party, relaxation, learning, and laughing.

It sounds like a very exciting time, I’ve not yet done something like that myself, but hope to in the next couple of years.
Have a safe journey to Oz and a great time over the next year in whatever you get up to! Enjoy!
