I want to give something back to my readers. And yes, I also want to give the blog a new boost. So, in line with my thoughts on the community of blogging, I shall be writing a review of one lucky readers blog or Web site every week.
Poor Reviews are… ummm… Poor
Last night, Sarah from Copywriting Tips and Ideas hinted at the fact that most paid reviews on blogs are often very boring, dull and worthless to anybody other than the advertiser and the blogger. Through a short discussion via the comments of my blog, Sarah and I agreed that there must be a happy medium between giving the advertiser the exposure they require (or “deserve”, in my case as there will be no cost) as well as giving the other blog readers some value. Combine the promotion for the advertiser with the on-topic advice for the readers and there will be a happy medium, resulting in a useful post for everybody.
Usually, the blog author doesn’t have much incentive to make a review useful to anybody other than the advertiser, because the author has already get their use out of it in the form of many green notes. Well, not me. I won’t be charging a penny, so the only way the reviews will be useful to me is if I make them useful to all my readers.
What Makes Jamie Such a Good Reviewer?
Nothing. Other than my five years of Web design, Web hosting, blogging and search engine optimisation experience.
I’ve reviewed more Web sites than I care to remember, and more importantly, I’ve given out more honest advice than I care to remember.
Jamie, how do I get a review?
Simple! Subscribe via email to my RSS feed. Each Thursday I’ll randomly select an email address, contact that person and then publish a review on the weekend. To get your free review, fill in the (very) short form below.
The Rules?
The rules are simple. Only one review per email address per six months. Each email address may have up to three entries (subscribing via email is one entry. I’ll explain how to get two more entires over the coming days. Don’t worry, they’re really easy to get!). You must ensure you activate your subscription by clicking the link in the email sent to you.
If you are already subscribed via email, you already have your first entry.
The first email address will be chosen this Thursday and the review will be published over the weekend. To get your free review, simply subscribe via email:
