Long time no see folks. Life has been hectic, but I’m back and I have lots of news for you. More of that tomorrow. For now, a quick and dirty post about something that just got annoyed me.
You wouldn’t sell a burger without a bun, so why sell a power adapter without the power lead! That was what was going through my head just now when I tried to buy a replacement power adapter and lead for my laptop.
I left my adapter and lead in Chicago when I was at HostingCon and with a desktop to work on as a backup computer, it’s taken me until now to order a replacement.
I’ve been struggling to find the correct adapter, and each time I think I have found the correct adapter, there has either been no photo, the photo wasn’t the adapter they were selling, or they were out of stock.
Anyway, just now I found a fantastic Web site. It asked me what make my laptop was. What model my laptop was, and then gave me a clear recommendation of which adapter I should buy. The best part? It was $20 cheaper than anywhere else I had seen. “Great!”, I’m thinking. “I could be back to video blogging by Friday!”
“Add to shopping cart!”. Done! Umm. No power lead. The adapter didn’t come with a lead (from the past couple months of searching, I have found that to be normal practice), so I went searching around the Web site for the cord that connects the adapter to the electricity mains.
No power cord. No power cord. No power cord.
No shipping prices. No shipping details. No nothing, other than power adapters!
The point is, even if your Web site makes it incredibly easy to find half of what I want to buy, you need to sell the other half too! And make it easy for me to find shipping details!
You wouldn’t sell a burger without a bun, so why sell a power adapter without a power cord?!
End rant. Make sure you sell everything your customers may need, because you’re going to lose a lot of business if you don’t.
And with that, I welcome you all back to the wonderful world of JamieHarrop.com. I’m back, and I’m not going away for a while! Speak to you tomorrow!

I just bought a GPS unit from Geeks.com and received it yesterday. The funny thing is that the only software which is compatible with this type is sold by a company in China. You would think they’d include software that is so difficult to find anywhere else.
