The Excitement of a Business First

Can you remember the first visitor to your Web site? The first customer through your doors? The first Web site visitor to contact you? The first person to use your live chat feature, or the first person to comment on your blog?

Elaine Ramos wrote a post over at Blogging Tips about blogging firsts. It got me thinking about all the ‘first moments’ in our lives as entrepreneurs, and sometimes, how those moments pass by without us even giving them a thought. I know some people who can tell me the date, time, full name, address and phone number of their very first client. It was that exciting for them! Now, my first customer was exciting, but it wasn’t *that* exciting.

I want to share with you some of my ‘first’ moments. I would love to hear about your milestones too.

My Very First Corporate Web site - The first Web site I ever got paid for was for a local woodwork company. I charged a stupidly low amount (A few hundred dollars at the most) and it marked the start of my freelancing roots. I didn’t know it at the time, but that meeting I had with them and the finished Web site would pave the way for my future business.

My First Blog Comment - My first blog comment came from Darren, of Marketing Hacks on June 13th 07. He wrote a good comment after reading my article about The Hidden Self-Employed Mindset.

My First Reader Email - The first email I received via the contact form on my blog was from Tom at Design Prophet. He got in touch with me on 25th June, just to say how much he was enjoying the blog.

Those are just a handful of my ‘first moments’ that I can remember. Do you try to remember the timing of your first moments and milestones? Can you remember who your first customer was? Please share them with us!
