Motivation Sucks!

6 August, 2007 - General Business - 1 Comment

Why does motivation suck? Because when you lose it, you feel like a ton of bricks just fell on you!

Don’t take that the wrong way. There’s nothing I love more than times when motivation is running through me and I feel like I can work forever. However, forever I cannot. There eventually comes a time when I lose all interest in anything over than laying on a beach with the waves lapping against my feet.

Many say that lack of motivation for a job is the first sign of boredom. The first sign that the job may not be right for you. Ya know, I haven’t decided whether I believe that or not. There are times when I absolutely love my job, and there are times when I hate it.

Working from home is a lifestyle that many will give a right foot to experience, but at the same time, for somebody like me who is destined for the outdoor lifestyle, working from home can be a laborious, boring lifestyle.

As you probably guessed, I’m going through one of those moments where I wish I was 300 miles from where I am now. Where I wish my job was different everyday, and involved spending time outside (A beach lifeguard springs to mind!), and where I wish I didn’t have constant deadlines to meet to keep bread on my table and beer flowing through my body.

It usually takes a few days for me to get over a period like this, but a few days I don’t have. I have a Sunday deadline for some search engine optimisation work, and I’m way off schedule.

Sorry folks, but today this blog entry isn’t going to throw out advice, but instead is a plea for help. What do you do to build motivation, when all you can think about is procrastination? Maybe music helps? Maybe working out? Maybe there is a specific video that motivates you? Please let me know, because my motivation went on a week long vacation and it’s showing no signs of coming home early!

I sometimes get to a point where I have so much to do, I lose the perseverence and just don’t get anything done.

I always find reading ‘Millionaire Upgrade’ does the trick for me… it only takes a few hours, but I always feel so inspired after reading it. I appreciate you telling me to buy it!

Alternatively, I think about what I can make out of my life… the success, the money etc, and it just puts me right back on track :)

Good luck!
