As I stand at the kitchen sink washing a glass, I feel my body warm in the scolding water. I tingle.
As I stand there, I feel the days burden boil over the end. I feel my self pity crawl up and over. I feel my cry for freedom explode and expand.
Poor morale all day long. And now, finally, I feel an open valve.
I put down the glass. Walking from the kitchen, I dry my hands. I slide open the door and walk on the deck.
Cool evening. This is summer.

It’s really easy to succeed as a blogger. It involves pressing plastic buttons a certain amount of times in a certain order. Simple.
“I push a lot of buttons. There’s a trick to pushing them in the proper order, but no one way is “right” and everyone pushes their buttons differently. In fact, the order in which they push their buttons (combined with the number of times they push them) determines how much money they make.“

Goals. So important in life. Without them, our life is without direction. Without purpose.
They are a powerful motivator. They’re there to keep us focused. To help us believe and achieve.
But what happens when your goal never seems real? What happens when you’re unable to effectively visualise your goal? What happens when your goal, no matter how dedicated and passionate you are about it, no longer sends you the energy you need?
My Life Long Battle
I have many dreams. Many goals. Many aspirations. But my ability to achieve them is hindered in my lack of ability to visualise them.

22nd March, 2005. Saturday. 7:30am. Clear, blue skies on a crisp Spring morning.
Seven teams. Four members per team. And nothing but the hardest challenge of our lives ahead of us.
Me? 14 years old. With a dodgy knee.
On this clear March morning, I had strapped a rucksack to my shoulders and set about undertaking a 35km hike across the rugged, mountainous region of northern England. For no other reason than to have some fun.

I’m a perfectionist. In everything I do.
Sport, writing, designing, creating, travelling. Everything.I strive to be the best. Not because I’m a calculated individual set on self and world domination. No. Not at all.
Rather, I’m just that type of person. If a job, hobby, passion or test is to be done, I don’t see any interest in not striving to be perfect.
But sometimes we can’t be perfect. And that’s ok, because we can at least say we tried to be prefect. I hope.
