New Design: Your Opinion Counts!

29 November, 2007 - Your Feedback - 6 Comments

Paul has created an initial design for the revamp of the blog and at this stage he wants your opinion. A few things to note:

  • The title in the header will be replaced with a logo before the design is launched
  • The block of white space in the header will be an advertising spot
  • The four squares in the right column will be ad spots

I Won a Contest! Welcome John Cow Readers!

26 November, 2007 - Your Feedback - 2 Comments

For once, luck rode with me and I won a contest.

Last week the cow was feeling funky, so in a bid to increase his RSS subscribers he decided to give away plenty of free text link ads that display in his readers RSS feeds. To enter, all you had to do was let him know you’re already subscribed and then give him proof.

I’m pleased to say I was one of the first ten winners. Thanks John!

Score! November RSS Goal

23 November, 2007 - Your Feedback - 3 Comments

53 SubscribersBack at the start of November I published a list of my goals for the month. One of those goals was to reach 50 RSS subscribers by the end of November.

Today, with a week still left in November, I am pleased to say I have achieved that goal. This morning FeedBurner was showing a subscriber count of 53.

Holiday Drop

I’m expecting the count to go down between now and Monday as our American friends enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday, but in the days after the weekend I hope to maintain and build on that new subscriber high. It’s a fantastic feeling to see a new high figure each morning. Growth is such good fun! :D

New Design… Sort Of!

21 November, 2007 - Your Feedback - 14 Comments

I’ve decided that I’m going to ask a professional designer to create my new blog design. Paul happens to be my business partner and he’s offered to do the design at a good rate (very good rate… as in free.). He’s been producing some awesome work for our Web design clients recently, so I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for the blog. I’ll be sending him a complete spec tomorrow so he knows what he needs to design. I’ll include that spec here and talk a little about what goes in to a piece of work from the perspective of a designer such as Paul.

New Design - Your Feedback Wanted!

17 November, 2007 - Your Feedback - 23 Comments

Yesterday, I promised to show you the full new design for this blog as opposed to just a teaser. My initial plan was to show you several different options based off the same theme, but the Google Analytics post that I just published has taken the best part of four hours to write, in turn taking up the time I was going to use to create the other designs.

I’ll post some variations of the design after the weekend, but for now I wanted to show you the direction that I’m going in.
