It goes without saying that blogging is increasing in power. Media are starting to recognise blogs in an official way. The public are beginning to understand what a blog is and what power they can contain. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that bloggers are now finding it easier to bring back power to those who need it.
Power to the Consumer
Consumers are scammed constantly. Often, scams go undetected with the big companies and corporations getting away with it. But not anymore! Blogging is allowing consumers to fight back.
Funtastic Holidays Scam
30 minutes ago, my good friend Brendon Sinclair wrote about his Mum being scammed by Funtastic Holidays.
It took just eight minutes for Brendon’s post to appear in Google and get ranked # 7 for Funtastic Holidays on Google.com.au.
I’m sure that rank will go up when I publish this post.
Thanks to blogging, the little guy still has some power.

Ha! That’ll teach them! Well done Brenda, and Jamie, for bringing this to the fore and helping one another out.
Maybe this could be the start of new “trend” - get scammed or ripped and off and people WILL know about it!
You just called Brendon, Brenda. Didn’t you? You did. Oh he’s gonna have your balls for that one.
I think Brenda works better for him (her) though… Whatcha think Brenda?
(I really need to stop ripping it out of you mate. I’ve had your balls in a sling all this week. I just can’t get serious when I’m talking about “Brendon Sinclair”)
Thanks for the comment mate. I’d love to see blogs step up to the plate more often. I think we’re more powerful than we think we are. Like Brendon said, we just have to use our powers for the good… like Superman.
Damm keyboard, could be something to do with the fact there is a new starter at my Dad’s office today called Brenda. But no, I agree, Brenda is quite a nice shortening of Brendon isn’t it?
Hi Jamie,
Isn’t it amazing what a blog can do? I love how they can (and will) give the consumer more power.

It certainly is, Barbara.
Thanks for the comment!
Blogs really are giving “power to the people”. Angela Hoy just published an article in Writer’s Weekly where she encourages everyone to Google any business or person before doing business with them!
I encourage clients to set up Google Alerts so they know when they’re being talked about on the web. Obviously, Funtastic Holidays doesn’t have one of those alerts set up yet.

In a bigger scale, I guess we also have to say thanks to internet. This channel give us almost unlimited information. Remember the era when our information channel were dominated by newspaper, radio, and television. Many important information were being censored, we have very little chance to speak up our opinion. Internet give us stronger position in reaching information and of course speak up our voice, including our complain as customer.
