Around the World in… How many days?

12 February, 2008 - Misc - 6 Comments

Folks, I do apologise for the lack of blog entries this past couple of weeks. I was in New York for the most of that time and since then I’ve spent all my time working on the new blog. Once the new blog goes live, I’ll have 12 months worth of posts already written and scheduled for publish. I’m aiming for three quality and detailed posts each week that will already be scheduled. By doing this, I can focus on marketing, sales and everything else that comes with owning a blog with the aim of making a pretty penny.

I’m currently sat in a cafe in my hometown of Halifax. This evening, when I get home, I’ll post some of my photos from New York. In the mean time, I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to one of my good offline friends, Holly. Offline friends? Yes. I do have them, and they do exist!

As I opened my laptop in Cafe Nero a few moments ago, I received an email from Holly. It turns out Holly is about to live my dream! She’s travelling the world, starting tomorrow!

Where is Holly Going?

First, she’s off to Nepal to climb to Mt Everest Base Camp.
Then Sri Lanka to teach English for a month, where she will meet her travel partner, Ev.
Then a quick stop in Thailand
Then Australia, the land of sun, sea, sand and surf. And Kangaroos and Fosters beer!
And then a full two months in New Zealand.

I admit, I’m jealous. But I’m only jealous because I haven’t yet got off my arse to do the same. In truth, I’m really pleased for Holly, and best of all, she is going to be blogging while travelling.

You probably won’t know Holly, but I’m sure her tales of travel will inspire, motivate and damn right make you want to get off your arse and do the same thing! So head on over to her blog and keep up to date with what’s going on. :)

Good luck Hol! I wish you all the best. Please bring me back an inflatable kangaroo. If you do, I’ll dance with it in a nightclub of your choice!

Wow. That’s pretty exciting for her. Why is it always about the Kangaroos with Australia? I mean… c’mon :P we do have other defining features.

Also exciting about your new blog. Sounds like you’ve been incredibly busy! Looking forward to seeing how it goes and best of luck with it.

Hey Andrew,

I did mention Fosters. That’s second in importance to the Kangaroos.

Yep, I’ve been really busy over here. I can’t wait to get the blog relaunched, but I want to make sure it’s done right, rather than rushing it and getting it all wrong. :)

12 months of posts written in advance?! Geez, I appreciate your ambition! Do you think you run the risk of posting irrelevant or dated material?

Hey Obi,

Thanks for stopping by. :)

That is something I’ve certainly thought about. In many ways this is going to be an experiment. I’m not sure anybody else has gone to such great measures to automate their blog content. I’m absolutely positive that I’ll be writing spontaneous posts each week as normal, and I think I’ll have to make the effort to keep my scheduled content fresh. If that means adjusting the schedule to fit with what’s hot in the Internet marketing niche at a particular time, then that’s what I’ll have to do.

Very much an experiment, but one I’m certainly looking forward to. :)

How is the busy day? Have those passed already? Reading about Holy, I think she has a wonderful life. Blogging and traveling are great combination…

Hi Jamie,

Sounds like you have put a lot of preplanning and effort into the launch of your new blog. Are you basicly going to let it fly autopilot for the first year and see what happens?
