I’ve spoken a lot about BloggingZoom in recent posts and this one is no exception. BloggingZoom is unique in the sense that it is still small enough to allow you to consistently hit the ‘Top Today’ list and front page, but large enough to bring in lots of good quality traffic.
I’ve had plenty of success with BloggingZoom since I started using it. Today I’m going to share my six step formula for BloggingZoom success.
Only Submit Your Best Articles - There are some people who submit every single article they write. I’ve found it works better to only submit your best content. I only submit content that I believe has the potential to reach the Top Today list and BZ home page. If you’re consistently seen in these areas by BZ members, you’re much more likely to build a brand and reputation than if you were to submit 10 articles that contained only one that ‘went hot’. This sometimes means I go a week where I don’t submit content. The way to combat this lack of activity is by participating in the community through other methods by zooming and commenting on articles.
Key Words At Start Of Title - If you hit the Top Today list, only the first 30 characters (approx) of your title are shown. Be sure to catch the attention of readers of the Top Today list by including the most important key words in the first 30 characters of your BloggingZoom submission title. Remember, the title of your BloggingZoom submission doesn’t have to be the same as the title of the actual article on your blog.
Display Zoom Buttons - Don’t make users go back to BloggingZoom to Zoom your article after they have read it. Allow them to Zoom the article from your Web site by placing Zoom buttons within the article. Use the BloggingZoom WordPress Plugin to do this. Place one at the top and one at the bottom of the article so your readers don’t have to scroll to find the button.
Submit Between 9am-11am EST - Monday to Friday, these hours tend to be the most active while allowing enough time in the day for users to Zoom your article (A new BloggingZoom day starts at 10pm EST). You need to submit at a time of high activity while still allowing plenty of hours in the day for the article to be Zoomed. 9am EST tends to work well for both of these requirements, and it also means most people, in most time zones, are awake and at the office. (9am EST is 2pm GMT, for example).
Submit Straight Away - Submit your article to BloggingZoom as soon as you have published it on your blog. By doing this, you allow your subscribed readers to Zoom your article too, rather than just relying on those users who find your article through the BloggingZoom submission. Of course, if you do this, be sure to publish the post between 9am-11am EST to capitalise on step four discussed above.
Write About BloggingZoom - For the ultimate ‘Zoom Zoom’, write about BloggingZoom. Users who use BloggingZoom are obviously interested in articles about the site they use. Articles discussing tips, tricks and experiences with BloggingZoom tend to do well.
Of course, the most important step is to write good quality content. Social networkers like lists, images, bold headings and to the point writing. Write quality content then follow the steps above and you’ll find the Zooms start flooding in.
I look forward to seeing your articles in the Top Today BZ list.

I only have 1 question, why does the bloggingzoom icon have to look so ghetto 90’s? It’s just ugly.
Yeah, it’s certainly a little retro, isn’t it?
Hummm. Maybe I should speak with Court to see if we can create some lovely, shiny Web 2.0 versions.
Does have to be web 2.0 looking, just a bit more polished. Frankly it’s a bit of a eye sore on any site. It might need something as simple as new colours.
That should be “doesn’t”
It looks like they updated the Zoom button (along with a new site design). I can’t say I’m still all that impressed, but hey, it’s only a button.
Well it looks better but yeah not that exciting.
anywhere to know the geo traffics coming from the time frame on submitting the articles.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure Speed. You could always email the BloggingZoom creator, Courtney Tuttle. Contact him through his site at http://www.courtneytuttle.com
sad to say its my first time to know about bloggingzoom, darn..
A BloggingZoom virgin. Cool.
Well, the good thing about BloggingZoom is it’s still small enough for everybody to join in and make a significant contribution.
I agree that the quality of the articles is very important. I visit several blogs and find that the article are not interesting…I don’t even finish read it. So don’t think further that I will vote this kind of articles.
[...] Harrop, my favorite Young Entrepreneur, has a great six-step article on how to get great results at Blogging Zoom. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs more traffic. And, really, who doesn’t? Jamie, you [...]
Well I’m ashamed to say I’d never heard of Blogging Zoom either, I must be getting old ! Is it Google approved ? i.e. does Google object and do nasty things to you if you post there ?
From my experience, Vic, it only goes positive things for your rankings in Google.
how do you determine the traffic is high quality? just wondering. stumbled!
Thanks Danielle.
That question could make an interesting blog post, but I’ll give a simple answer here first.
Generally, I look at how many pages the users navigate to. How long they stay on the site. How many comments the users post etc. All those things combine to give me some idea of how good (or bad) quality the users were.
Mm i stil not hear about Blogging zoom too until i arrive here. Thanx for the post
