When is the best time to publish on BloggingZoom?

BloggingZoomIf you have been reading my blog for a while, you’ve probably seen the little “Zoom” buttons on some of my posts, just like the one to the right of this post. (You might not see it if you’re reading in your feed). These buttons are connected to BloggingZoom. BloggingZoon is the brainchild of Courtney Tuttle and serves as a social networking venue for bloggers. It acts in a similar way to Digg, in that articles on a blog can be submitted to BloggingZoom and then the BZ users add a vote to the article if they like it. The articles with the most votes get the most exposure, appearing in the “Top Today” list and on the home page. Users can submit their own content to BloggingZoom, which is a clear advantage over Digg where you have to rely on a reader of your blog to submit your articles.

Get to the point!

So last month when BloggingZoom was all the rage, I decided to send an email to Court with one simple question.

The Question: At what time does the BloggingZoom script reset its stats?

Obviously, the best time to submit content to a social networking site like BloggingZoom is as soon as a new 24 hour period starts on the Web site, as this gives you a full 24 hours to get ranked in the Top Today list. If you submit your article in the middle of a BloggingZoom day, you only leave 12 hours for people to vote for your article.

So When Does the BloggingZoom Clock Reset?

Here is Court’s reply to my email:

Hi Jamie!
That’s a very good question! It actually resets at 8:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. It would probably be best to submit then, although there is less traffic at night. As long as it can hit the front page, that is for sure the best time.

That’s 8pm MST, 3am GMT and 10pm EST.

So there you have it. If you believe your article is worthy of the BloggingZoom home page or Top Today list, submit your article as close to 3am GMT as you can. :)

Thanks for the info! I was wondering what time it was, and I guessed it was midnight EST. I guessed close enough!

I use BZ and love it! It has brought me some new traffic, ok quite a bit, and I’m sure new RSS readers as well.
