Pro-Active Sales and a Free Ebook!

18 August, 2007 - General Business - No Comments

I’ve spoken about pro-active apologies in the past, but today I’m going to talk about pro-active sales.

Yes, yet again I’m mentioning my good friend, and world’s best Web designer, Brendon Sinclair (Off topic. Brendon, you’re not going to hold that ranking for ‘World’s Best Web Designer’ for long. I intend on throwing you off your perch sooner rather than later. :D ). In fact, in this post I’m using Brendon as an entire case study.

Yesterday, I wrote about how public speaking is a fantastic way to find new business. I linked to Brendon’s ebook that is dedicated to the topic. The ebook costs AU$24.95 (It’s worth every penny, and plenty more!). Of course, Brendon been the smart fellow he is, he saw my link to his site, read my post, and decided to treat you all to an early Christmas present. Yup, Brendon decided to give away the ebook for free to my readers (No signup required. Just click the link). He even noticed I had to give a direct link to the video of a part of one of his talks, which opened directly in your media player. That wasn’t the ideal way to show the video, so Brendon gave me solution by including the video right there on the purpose built page that he created for my readers.

That, right there, is pro-active sales. Brendon may not want to sell anything to you, but he realised I would probably write another post (Ahem. Like this one) about his offer, and he realised my readers are probably going to be interested in his blog and his products. By offering the ebook for free to my readers, he probably just got himself a few more readers of his blog (Brendon writes some fantastic content. How Beer Made Brendon $10,000.).

Thanks Brendon!

Pro-active sales is all about looking for opportunities. Look in your local newspapers. Listen to the radio. Watch the TV. If you find somebody who has a problem, then find a solution. If you find somebody who promotes your product, then provide a offer for that persons readers. If somebody links to your Web site and it brings in substantial traffic, put up a “Welcome to X Web Site Visitors” on your site. I did this when I welcomed Jane May’s readers.
