Ten minutes ago, I decided to start a new business. Seriously. I suppose the better term would be “new Web site”, but it’s intention is to generate income, so I class it as a business.
I’ve been contemplating this idea for a couple of weeks and I came to the conclusion that it is a half decent idea, but I would put it off until I have more time. Well, something just popped up in my inbox which made me decide to start that business right here, right now! If I play my cards right over the next 24 hours, I could be on to a winner.
I’m not going to tell you what the business is yet. Keep reading over the next 24 hours for updates. More will be revealed soon.
The first step for this business was to decide what domain name I want. I spent the last ten minutes coming up with three words that were relevant to the business, and I then stuck them in a word constructor which gave me some ideas for domains. I came up with four domains, two of which were good candidates.
The next step was to ask a few friends which domain they liked most (totally off the top of their head. No thinking. Just whatever their initial reaction was). As it happens, I didn’t need to ask anybody, because as I was typing in MSN to my first friend I managed to incorrectly spell the first domain. As soon as I did that, I realised that if I was going to spell it wrong, then my visitors were going to do so too. (The incorrect spelling is already taken, so there was no way I was registering a domain when I couldn’t get the incorrect spelling. Rule number one of choosing a new domain is to take in to account domain spillage. I’ll talk more about domain spillage later).
So, I now have my domain.
More information soon. Nothing like a teaser, eh?
