Vlog - Unknown Facts about self made billionaires

21 June, 2007 - Video Blogs - 28 Comments

Time for another vlog. I’m hoping I’ll have some better hardware soon, so the quality should be much better in my next vlogs.

I think the title explains itself. In this vlog, I decided to give you all some interesting facts about many of the worlds self made billionaires. I also included a video of a couple guys hanging from ropes ten stories in the air, but that wasn’t the main part of the video. :D

The wonder of colour!

Veyr interesting J. Looks like I should have dropped out of Uni from the sounds of it!

Yup, I decided to go for colour this time, although the quality wasn’t great after it had been converted to Flash.

Yeah, it seems a lot dropped out of Uni. For what it’s worth, I dropped out of college a year early, and it was the best decision I ever made. :)

Oh yeah, the color and your blue walls made your hair look goo! haha….I think I only heard one ahh and maybe 2 ermm’s? Much better than the first but I thought the list was a bit long and I kinda got bored Jamie! Keep it short, keep it interesting, keep it fresh. Heck, tell a joke! :) Makes me want to have a VLog!

Thanks for the comment, C.

Yeah, what the hell happened to my hair? It looked great before I started. :D Between you and me (Oh wait, this is a public comment system), I spent the whole damn afternoon trying to record this vlog. Things didn’t go too well, but I promised it so I had to deliver. I was quite cheesed off by the end.

Being in front of the camera is hard work, for sure!

Regarding the length. So true. I knew in the back of my mind that it was going to be too long, but I couldn’t stop myself. To stop it happening in the future, I think I’ll go for three or four minute videos at the most. :) It’s just so hard to crack a joke when there is nobody around to hear it. Maybe I should drag one of the neighbours cats inside to listen to me. :D

Jamie,

Those are some interesting facts. I think you would also be interested in a book called The Millionaire Mind by Dr. Thomas Stanley.

As a prerequisite to the book Dr. Stanley interviewed 1,371 millionaires and then reported on the trends and similarities he found as a result.

It turns out that the extremely wealthy among us do NOT live the kind of lifestyle that people assume they do. They typically own a nice home, but 99% have never paid more than $40k for a car. They value spending time with their family over spending money frivolously, etc.

If you get a chance, check it out. I especially recommend the audio book version, you can even listen to a sample there.

Check it out if you get a chance,

John

That looks like a fantastic book, John.

I’ve read one of his other books, ‘The Millionaire Next Door’, and it was one of the books I was giving away in my competition (Books will be on their way to Scott very soon).

I’ll purchase it today. I probably won’t get a chance to read or listen to it for a while, but it could make for some good reading on the plane next month. :)

Thanks!

Either I am deaf as a post or you need a better mic. I had to crank the sound up and I could still barely hear you.

You’re deaf as a post, Nick. :D

Seriously, I do need a new mic, but the current videos should be quite loud.

If anybody else is having the same problem as Nick, please let me know.

Denise always tells me I’m deaf!

The adidas section of the video was really loud then the volume went way down when you came back.

Maybe I need some 7.1 surround sound system to get the full Jamie experience.

You should try to get a headset like this: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/webcam_communications/internet_headsets_phones/devices/2980&cl=us,en

I have a similiar one and it works great, plus you’ll look extra geeky. ;)

I was going to purchase a headset, but I gathered I would look like a true tosser.

I would prefer a mic similar to the one I have now, or even one that clips to my shirt like they wear on the TV. The only reason for that is anything like a headset would be too “in my face” which I don’t think would be good for the video. People like to see the ugly mug which is speaking. :)

I should have a new mic by the time I publish my next vlog. :)

I also noticed that Jamie was a little quite. When the video started, it gave me a fright; it was so loud compared to him speaking.

Interesting watch Jamie, thanks for that.

 It was all part of my evil plan… honest. :D

No, I’m going to get it fixed. I’ll be buying a funky new microphone while I’m across the pond in a couple of weeks, so hopefully sound quality will be much better in future. :)

Thanks for letting me know, Steven. :)

I’d say people who have nothing will work harder to get what they want, you need luck and intelligence to succeed but it’s the people who are hungry for success that make it big.

Yup, I agree with that, Tom.

That hunger can be sparked by anything, and not just a hard life as a young person like the examples I gave in the video. However it is sparked, it needs to be there.

Thanks Kevin. :)

I’ve come to realise blogging certainly isn’t as easy as I thought, but it is certainly as fun as I expected. Sites such as yours tend to make blogging just a little easier for me, which is always a good thing. :)

I’m planning to do one next week while I’m at HostingCon. I need a better microphone before I do another, hence the wait.

Good things come to those who wait. :D

Good work - keep it up.

The great thing is you’ve made a terrific start and are getting better and better (and better good), along with more knowledge.

Cheers

I need to find a cool way of making some passive income. It seems that nothing works really well to drive traffic to blogs so maybe something really sexy will work. Have any good ideas?
